I think I may have followed instructions to stop my site from breaking when the Ellis Labs sites had an outage, and I’m assuming that is what has caused this, but my control panel shows 2.4 as the up to date version of EE.  Any ideas about how I would go correct that?

    Hello UltraBob,

You just need to re-enable the version check and I believe you will be back in business.

Or you can upgrade to 2.5 and be on the latest version.

    Your choice. 😊

    Cheers,

The whole point was that I’m not sure how to renewable the version check.

To enable version checking I think you’d set ‘New Version Auto Check’ to yes under General Configuration in the CP.

However, looking at an install of mine, auto check *is* set to yes but the EE Info panel is saying that I’m also up-to-date (although I’m still on 2.4.0).

Yeah, same here.  When Ellis Lab’s site went down and took their entire EE2 customer base’s control panels with them, I vaguely remember some code being passed around to disable the check.  I was being lazy and hoping someone remembered what it was.  If I haven’t gotten an answer by Monday our time, I’ll have to stop being lazy and either go back and find out what the change I made was or go ahead and run the update which will probably fix the version check issue.

    Hello UltraBob,

dframpton is correct. To enable the check go to Admin->General Configuration and check yes for the New Version Auto Check.

Feel free to grab 2.5.1, it was released today.

Is there anything else I can do to help?

    Cheers,

I’m losing faith in my skill with my native tongue. I thought I had indicated that, like dframpton I had the setting correct, but that the issue still existed. Really this is not important enough to have a multi-week support thread open over. Please just close it and I’ll figure it out on my own or upgrade and expect that that will fix the issue.

Well fancy that, now it is all working and without me having changed anything.
