Synchronizing templates problem

    Hi

I have this recurring problem with a few sites that doesn’t seem to have any cause.

I’m used to editing templates on disk exclusively. Occasionally I sync the disk and db templates, but almost always, the file takes precedence over the db template, which is the expected behaviour.

Yet on some sites, when a file is edited, the db template takes precedence until I have to re-synchronize. Obviously having to re-synchronise templates every time I make a change to the file is a massive waste of time, yet I don’t understand why it’s not working as expected.

Here’s a grab of an example template that is out of sync:

Here, I would expect the file template to take precedence since it was edited most recently. However the db template is shown until I manually synchronize.

This happens with some sites, not others. Yet I don’t understand where I’m going wrong.

Any help would be hugely appreciated: it’s very frustrating.

(Oh, and there is no caching implemented here.)

    Thanks,
    Dan.

    Hello Dan,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

Can you tell me what the version of each of your sites and tell me which version is experiencing this issue?

    Cheers,

2.5.0 but I have seen the issue on various earlier versions of EE. It’s only now that it’s become frustrating enough for me to seek help!

    Hello Daniel,

So these are all 2.50? I am not aware of automatic syncing between the DB and the Templates. Unless you have CRON job running that is running the sync? We have not such process.

There are two ways the templates update. Template updates when you use the template manager AND it updates if you visit the template on the front end. So it’s a perception thing. Those are the two ways to trigger a sync.

    Does that make sense?

    Cheers,
