    Hi there -
I hope this is a suitable venue for my question:

I am hoping to develop a site where users will sign up as members (a once-off act where they are lending their name to a cause) and the optimistic goal is to have up to 75,000 such member sign ups.

Is there an upper limit for user numbers in EE? Is there a threshold at which I would have to expect to make special provisions in my hosting setup?

thanks as always for your help
    David

    Hello daithi,

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.

That number is no problem for ExpressionEngine or MySQL. You should be just fine.

Are you hosted on a shared account? If this is all going to happen on one day, 75K registering, you may want to let your provider know there may be a spike in usage on your account, but even that is not a must do. Some hosting providers get picky about spikes in services on the server when the account is a shared hosted account and send emails about it. It’s annoying.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane

Thanks for coming back to me — that answers my question, much appreciated.

I don’t anticipate that this will happen all at once, but hopefully over a period of a couple of months.

    all the best,
    David
