    Hi,

Has anyone here managed a successful migration from wordpress/bbpress/buddypress to EE?

Is it at all possible without losing   users+passwords/ forum topics etc..

We have over 100,000 members and we can’t move to EE if it would cause too much disruption.. :(

    Hi kriskl,

Thank you for your question and your interest in ExpressionEngine!

Migrating from wordpress is possible, but there is no automatic process for it. A successful migration would need very careful planing, but that aspect is not specific to ExpressionEngine. Moving to any new system is going to involve some heavy lifting.

You should consider contacting a member of the ExpressionEngine Pro Network. The Network is a group of ExpressionEngine experts that can help you plan and implement your migration.

I’m sure you’ll have more questions, feel free to ask!

    Cheers,

I will have a look at pro network,

but I suppose there are not many 😉

    thanks

    Hi Kris,

Indeed, I don’t know if we have any metrics on the number of sites that have moved from WP to ExpressionEngine.

I invite you to contact Marcus Neto, Director of Business Development and Product Evangelist. He can get you tons more information and may know exactly who to contact regarding the move.

    Cheers!

    Hi markusb,

I don’t believe we’ve come across anyone else making that specific move from wordpress/bbpress/buddypress to EE, but like Dan said, it would take some careful planning since EE isn’t a drop-in replacement for that combination of platforms.

There might be some in the community who have gone through a migration from those platforms to EE. Would you like me to move this thread over to Community Help to see if anyone there could offer some pointers?
