In EE1 I used to replace the “Help” link in the Cpanel with a link to my own help file. Now, in EE2, when I do this, it has the path to the official user guide help page added on to the end.

http://www.mysitename.com/help/cp/admin/general_configuration.html

I just want

http://www.mysitename.com/help/

Any tips for how to do this?

You are correct. I looked for an add-on to aid in this, but nothing turned up. It seems that the value is hardcoded somewhere, unfortunately.

I invite you to make a Feature Request to have this be configurable.
