Hello,
I am planning to import a few thousand products into EE and want to be able to provide product comparison feature..
1. Should I use the EE API to create entries for individual comparisons and save them into channels for display?
2. Should I use PHP in my templates to retrieve two products for comparison and show it dynamically instead of from a channel? If so, how would I track views for the comparison..
Please shed light on solving this issue..

There are 2 main tools for importing records into ExpressionEngine, DataGrab and Importer.
For product comparisons, there is a nice, free tutorial on Train-ee!
