    Hi,

I have just taken over management of a site that has been a little neglected. My first task is to upgrade the version of Expression Engine. The current version is 1.6.3. Do i need to install the upgrades incrementally or can i just go for the latest?

Also will this cause any issues with the existing site?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello eurohelmets,

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.

You can update ExpressionEngine from 1.6.3 to 2.4. Just follow these directions closely.

Your Add-Ons will be effected. They will need to be updated after the update. The update document has this in the header:

Third-party add-ons from version 1.x will not work with ExpressionEngine 2.x. Please contact each add-on’s author for a 2.x-compatible version before upgrading, or your site may not function properly. The installer will automatically disable all extensions as part of the upgrade process.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you run into any problems. Be sure to back everything up before you update.

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane,

Thanks for response. I carried out the upgrade of Expression Engine and MSM. On completion of the installation however i came across so many issues i had to revert back as i couldn’t find out how to solve them.

I have started another thread which i have listed them in http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/214004/

I would really appreciate any help or support.

    Thanks

    Hi eurohelmets,

I’m sorry you ran into so much trouble with the upgrade process.

We’ll be helping you in the other thread.

To keep things on track, I’m going to close this one down.

    Cheers,
