I am running a site with EE 1.6.7 and enabled gzip compression but my pages are not compressing. I ran a gzip text on http://www.greentent.com and there was not compression. PHP info shows it enabled and another EE2 site on the same server does compress.  I have other EE1 sites and none of them will compress. Any ideas?

    Hi GreenTent,

I’m sorry you’ve run into this trouble! Can you tell me what means you used to determine that gzip compression is not being effective?

I found a tool online that can test a URL for you. Can you test your URL with and without the setting enabled and let me know the results?

    Cheers,

    Dan,

I found a way to make all of the files on the site us gzip outside of the control panel for EE.  For some reason on or off from within EE 1.6.7 does not have effect on my server but all of my EE2 sites can be turned on or off just fine. However, with the solution I found it seems to be working great. I used this website for my testing: http://aruljohn.com/gziptest.php and have bookmarked the one you gave me. Thanks.
