    Hi,

I’ve been banging my head on this for a few days trying to come up with some creative way of accomplishing this. I’m trying to create a shipping quote form that will email the client order details. The idea is basically this, a user adds products to the “cart” to build a order and then submits the details to the client for quoting shipping costs.

The problem, I want to stay away from full blown shopping carts as they will never sell anything on the site. I saw other threads about using a favorites/bookmark addons to act as the cart, the only issue here is it needs to support quantities. This is where the bookmark addons fall short as they just save each entry only once to a session.

Any ideas? I never used the SCM, so I’m not sure if that would work or not?

    I’ve done something similar…

Using the stock EE email module form I outputted a list of channel entries (ie products) into the form along with radio buttons (yes/no) for each option. This does mean everything is on one page, a bit like a long shopping list where you select what you want.

You could try MB shopping cart plugin (http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/mb-shopping-cart-plugin). I haven’t tried it myself, but it should give you the basic cart functionality without the checkout process.

I’m sure you could use this in combination with Freeform to email the results of the basket.

Or try a session plugin like Remember Me (http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/remember-me) to roll your own cart functionality.

‘Remember Me’ mentioned above is a good add-on. I’m sure if you request the quantity feature, he can get it done for you… if it isn’t already.

Thanks Guys! I asked Wouter about his plugin, it currently doesn’t support quantities, and I don’t think he’ll add that feature as the core of the plugin is for “bookmarks”. Jeff Claeson (@dreamtime) reached out to me and sent me something similar he did for a client. I’m going to give this a try and then make look at MB plugin for SCM.

    No problem’s Austin.

Kudos for Jeff stepping in. I recently had a client asking for something similar, so might be worth him publishing the add-on, as it seems to be a popular request.
