I have an image manipulation set to in an upload field, but all the images look really bad. They are miss colored or pixelated. Could this be a server constraint issue? This happens on crop and constrain, as well as when I sync folders.

*Note* The original images are pretty massive in size.

Can you post a link to the original unedited image for comparison.  A little pixelation i could probably expect, but color changes that drastic - that’s a bit unusual.  But harder to say for certain without knowing what the original looks like.

Hmm. It certainly does change the appearance. And that’s using only EE’s native image manipulation? Are you running 2.4? Can you post some of the template code you’re using to serve the resized version?

Here is the setting I have for the manipulations:

Short Name:alt
Height:(blank)
Width:295
Resize Type:Constrain
Water Mark:none

The code is used in the slider, where the link is displayed as the main image. Using it this way doesn’t affect the image at all, as the image is distorted the minute it’s manipulated.

I found my answer in changing my Resizing Protocal from GD to GD2. I didn’t know this option was available, for anyone else finding this post its under admin > System Administration > Image Resizing Preferences

That’s terrific, Ger.  So was GD the default and you had to change it to GD2?  And so that was in some way interacting with your host environment?  Just looking to understand what the underlying cause was for my own benefit (want to watch out for it in the future).  Glad you have it solved.
