This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I just updated from 2.3.1 to 2.4.0 and when I try to finalize the update by going to mysite.com/admin.php I get this message:

Your system folder path does not appear to be set correctly. Please open the following file and correct this: admin.php

But my folder path has been correctly renamed in both “admin.php” and “index.php” of the root folder. This has never happened before, nor on my other two sites I updated to 2.4.0. (I don’t use MSM; these are three separate sites for separate clients)

I enabled debugging and nothing changed.

Seems fixed now. What I did the first time around was upload individual folders from ./system/ into MY ./system/ (which had been renamed “./systemfolder/”) (I did them individually because I am on a painfully slow wifi connection here, which cuts out intermittently). Then, I renamed admin.php and index.php, but this failed.

The second time: I installed the whole ./system/ folder, THEN renamed it. This resolved the problem, though I don’t understand why. If the message I kept getting was that I needed to correct the folder path in “admin.php”, and it was correct, why would this happen?

    Hey Luc,

Perhaps in the process of updating, some of the files didn’t upload correctly, and thus when attempting to do it again, this time, all the files successfully uploaded, and the update was successful.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Thanks.

Thanks Kyle. Actually, there is. Suddenly all the images on my site aren’t showing up. They’re definitely there, in the right directories. I’ve synced all files via File Manager, and synced templates. Nothing has changed regarding paths or directories, but since the upgrade none of my uploaded image files are showing up. All images are working in the CP (except my own member avatar). I’m stumped.

    Imageless in Buenos Aires :(

    Luc,

Could you check the image folder permissions? That should be set to 777. If that doesn’t work, let me know and we’ll work together to get this resolved.

hi Sean, thanks. I tweeted this out and we solved it quickly. Permissions were indeed not set correctly, I’m not sure why. I set them to 755, rather than 777 though. I’ve had too many spam attacks of late and am trying to minimize that issue.
