    Hi all,

I’m trying to build a <select>-dropdown based on a custom member field. Here is my question in the “Development and Programming” forum: Creating a <select>.... Of course, I checked the Member Profile Templates ASAP.

All documentation I can find on this issue is this: Other Member Fields. That’s nice for displaying an existing value, but that’s not what I’m looking for.

I must be looking in the wrong direction. Any docs on this? Should / could I use SafeCracker?

Or is it mandatory to use the Member Profile Templates? (I’m no fan of those, since they take me away from my regular template folder, where I have all my embeds etc right at hand.)

    Thanks… Nico

It looks like you’re using syntax from the Solspace User module for editing a user’s profile - do you have their module installed?

Here’s the overview of their user profile edit syntax:

    http://www.solspace.com/docs/detail/user_edit_profile/

Here’s the specific info about custom field syntax:

    http://www.solspace.com/docs/detail/user_edit_profile/#custom_member_field

We used the user module a LOT - very well constructed.

For others reading this post, another interesting approach to managing custom fields for members is the zoo visitor module.

    I hope this helps

My $DEITY, I hadn’t even noticed that that particular module was installed. Aargh. That’s what you get when someone else built the site, documentation is non-existent and you’re on a tight schedule.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Mark! Higly appreciated.

    Hi Nico,

Solspace User is a very popular module and well supported by the developer. Have you found the answer over at their support forums?
