Hi, i have problems with backing up database with Backup Pro. You can see my question here:http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/support/backup-pro/viewthread/2785

I contacted the developer and he can’t find why doesn’t it work. He had full access to database and admin and he confirmed my issue.

    He tells me:

I have done some research though and discovered that CodeIgniter (the framework ExpressionEngine is built on) has a known issue with mixed character sets that could be causing this issue for you.

Can you tell me if Codeigniter is the problem here?
Can only Codeigniter be updated in EE installation, i see that CI 2.0.1 is in EE 2.4.0, but CI 2.1.0 is out already.

    I have EE 2.4.0 installed
    PHP Version 5.2.17
    mysql 5.0.92-community

    Thanks

I would not recommend doing that at all, it would most certainly fail.

Are you able to grab a backup of your database using any other database tools such as PHPMyAdmin?

    Cheers,

    Hi Djive,

While I’m sorry to see that Backup Pro isn’t working for you in this instance, I am happy that other backup measures seem to do the trick.

I invite you to have the developer of Backup Pro file a bug report with us regarding the mixed character sets issue.

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Cheers,
