    I’ve just installed a fresh copy of EE this evening, after having installed probably around 15+ EE installs with no issues, this is the first time I’ve installed this version.

    I am having nothing but problems, most of which I have fixed by searching through Google, a few of the errors are below:

    First of all, it took 3 fresh installs to actually get it to stop saying “Your config file is incorrectly configured” even though it was configured fine and permissions where set fine.

    After I finally got it installed, I was then receiving a file permissions error on the Session.php file, which I realised was at 0 bytes so I just transferred a fresh copy over.

    Thirdly, I received an error on the file manager page stating there was an error with cp/content_files.php, so I had to do a google search and add in;

    private $_allowed_dirs = array();

    Now I am having a problem where I keep getting a blank page when I go to publish an entry. I have tried for the past 30 minutes to solve it but have gave up. Is there a reason for all of these issues with the latest version? How can I fix this blank screen issue without re-installed ANOTHER fresh copy, it’s proving to be a little frustrating as each time a fresh copy has been downloaded and installed.

    Thanks.

    When you did your fresh installs at any point did you download a new version from the EE site?
    I have installed EE 2.4 without any issues, but it does seem something odd is going with you.

    I take it you are using the same host as other EE installs you have done.

    Are your templates correct, silly question, but i’ve been there. Some issues i had recently were to do with the .htaccess file, make sure that is not affecting anything if your using it.

    Yeah, I always download a fresh install from the EE site.

    Also, I use the same .htaccess as I use for every install, I’ve never had these issues with any previous versions.

    Can an EE staff member please help me out with this. It’s getting urgent as I have now lost 2 days development work because of it!

    Hi Jay,

    I’m sorry for your frustrations, we do try our best to respond within 2 business days.

    What are you using to FTP your ExpressionEngine files to your host? Have you tried installing the same files on local server to make sure they work properly before FTP?

    The fact Session.php so 0 bytes for file-size leaves other files suspect as well. Generally, if an FTP corrupts one file, it has corrupted others as well.

    After all of your attempts, it seems that FTP is dropping out on a few files.

    If you can successfully install locally with the same files, then I definitely suspect FTP.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,
    I’m using Transmit.

    Ive already set up my templates, channels, channel fields, global settings etc… If I try yet another fresh install, I’m going to have to do all this again. Is there any possibility of narrowing it down to the corrupt file and replacing just it? As everything else seems to be working OK now.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jay,

    Your last post leads me to believe that you are up and going. Are you still experiencing issues?

    There is good news. You can replace ExpressionEngine files without having to go through the installation process.

    All you need to do is preserve your /system/expressionengine/config/config.php and /system/expressionengine/config/database.php files, any templates saved as files and any additions to /system/expressionengine/third_party and /themes/third_party

    With those backed up, you can safely upload replacement ExpressionEngine files. Once the upload is complete, remove /system/installer and replace the files you preserved earlier.

    Let me know where you stand here, I’m still eager to help!

    Cheers,
