After importing my phpbb forum over fours years ago to ExpressionEngine the time has come when spam is causing me too many problems and I am missing the lack of functionality of phpbb.

I have therefore taken the decision to move from ExpressonEngine to a ombination of Wordpress and phpbb.

My question here concerns the discussion forums. Does anyone know how or have a scrpt or know of any reliable service that can transfer n ExpressionEngine forum (37k members, 41k posts) to phpbb?

Whilst I am here I guess I should ask the same question about ExpressionEngine to Wordpress. Fortunately, all articles were only posted by Admin so there isn’t the same requirement for transferring members.

Any help much appreciated.

PS - I am using EE Discussion Forums 2.2.0 and EE 1.7.1

For anyone else looking to convert from Expression Engine to phpBB I found a solution.

I know this thread is old, but I’m really looking for a solution for this. I sent Mark a PM but he hasn’t had a chance to answer and the website he referenced is down.

Does anyone else know of a way besides gConverter to manually/through a tool convert EE Forum to PHPBB?

Im interested too, because am thinking to move forums out from EE, and leave site itself running with EE. So basicly i need move 200k+ posts (40k+ threads), thousands of image attachments and 2000+ members and their info etc. from EE Forum Module to phpbb or similar.

I’m interested in learning about this as well.  Has anyone done it (move from EE to PHPBB or bbPress and Wordpress) recently?

I ended up going with gConverter. It only cost $90 and 3 days. Took the headache out of the process because I was going nuts trying to figure it out.

Hey Omkar N. I just migrated the forum. However, I did it to vanilla forums. I was only going to use BB because it was free and supported by the vanilla forums importer.

Their service turned this 2-step potential nightmare into a simple process.

Ah, great. Very helpful!  Funny.. I went from Wordpress + Vanilla to EE a few years back.
