Control panel's 'Is system on?' under General Configuration not MSM aware?

I recently started using Multiple Site Manager and noticed that while most of the settings in General Configuration are site-specific, the ‘Is system on?’ setting seems to be global.

This is problematic because I’m developing a second MSM site in a temporary directory and relying on the ‘Is system on?’ setting to keep the site inaccessible until it’s ready to be moved to its proper folder and launched.

The ‘Is site on?’ setting does appear to be MSM aware, but it makes the site inaccessible to everyone except Super Admins, and I need other user groups to have access to it during development.

Of course password protecting the directory via .htaccess would be an option, but I’d have to make a request outside the department I work in for that to be done and it would be a hassle. I’m wondering if there’s a way to achieve what I’m trying to do within EE?

    Hi roadRUNN3R,

You can set other Member groups to have the ability to view the site when it is offline. Look in Members->Member Groups Select a member group to edit and look for the preference under Site Access: “Can view site when it is offline”.

Make sure you set the preference of the correct site by either swatting to that site in the Control Panel or using the drop down at the top of the member group page.

    Cheers!
