    Hello!

    We’re very new EE2 customers and I’m working on getting our testing environment set up.  I was able to get it running pretty much flawlessly under XAMPP on my local machine, but I’m working on getting it running on our staging server (a RHEL server—we run out staging environments internally in our own datacenter, so this is not hosted at an external provider, using sudo and have done everything as root) and have run into a problem:

    ========================
    A Database Error Occurred
    Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings.

    Filename: controllers/wizard.php

    Line Number: 1532
    ========================

    Not sure what to make of this error since I haven’t ever actually provided any settings.  When I installed my local version, I was prompted for settings after clicking the button and the process when very smoothly.  The extent of my interaction with EE on this system has been to upload the EE2 files, navigate to the admin.php page and click the button.  The next page is this error.

    Thanks!

    I made an incredibly noobish mistake:  I uploaded the local version rather than a clean copy.  Once I uploaded a new clean copy, installation went fine.  However, I installed using the Agile Records theme, and all I get is a blank white page with the title “Redirect” when I try to open the site.  The Admin tool works perfectly however.

    That’s a classic one 😉 Good to hear all’s back to normal.

    An alternative approach for your consideration:

    And… noobish mistake #2:  near as I can tell, while I *thought* I installed the Agile Records theme, I apparently instead managed to install a blank version.  The problem is, I’m so used to installing Drupal sites that I was lulled into complacency by the easy install process of EE.  😊

    But, all is well now.
