I’m trying to update my site from 1.7.1 to 2.4.

I’ve installed a local copy to Xampp, and followed the update process.  The update seems to go smoothly without throwing any errors. I get to the final screen telling me where to login an to remove the install directory.

But when i try to view my site i get:

Site Error: Unable to Load Site Preferences; Invalid Preference Data

I am able to log into the CP though.

I’m sorry you’ve run in to this snag!

Can you verify that the index.php file you have in place is the one from the 2.4 download and that it has been updated with the correct path to /system ?

$system_path = "./system";

Let me know what you find.

Opps.  This was down to user error, my setup was still using the original EE1 index.php!
