I get a fatal error when attempting to edit entries on any of our MSM sites. It happens through Modify or delete > Entry and through Content > Edit in the CP. Oddly, I can edit any most recent entry in any of our MSM sites by selecting Modify or delete > Most Recent Entry. Here is the error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function ascii_to_entities() in /www/eh(redacted)/public_html/system/expressionengine/controllers/cp/content_edit.php on line 243

I updated the installation twice with the same result. The first time I updated EE and my plugins at the same time. Then I rolled it back and tried a second time, and updated each plugin individually, testing it to determine if any of them might have caused the problem before updating ExpressionEngine.

    Plugin list:
    Low Reorder
    Static Page Caching
    Wygwam
    Playa
    Matrix
    WB Markitup
    CE Image
    EE2 ED Image Resizer
    Last Segment
    SmartDown
    Switchee

    Hi Sean,

I’m sorry the update to 2.4 hasn’t gone so smoothly.

When you updated ExpressionEngine, did you make sure to update MSM as well? The two are meant to be updated in tandem. MSM is currently 2.1.2

For both of you, it appears to be addressed in this bug report. There is a fix outlined in the report that should get you back to good.

I look forward to your response.

    Cheers!

Thanks, Dan. The fix in that bug report took care of my problem. I did update MSM simultaneously with EE and everything is working fine.

    Thank you,
    Sean

    Sean, Adam,

Excellent news! I’m glad the fix worked out for you.

    julzmon,

Have you had a chance to apply the fix yet? If so, are you all set?

    Thanks!

Thanks Dan, fixed it for me too. I don’t use MSM on any installation, does it matter?

    Hi Luc,

Thanks Dan, fixed it for me too. I don’t use MSM on any installation, does it matter?

Indeed, the file that is addressed in the solution is part of EE Core, and outside of MSM. I’m glad it was a fix for you as well!

    Cheers,

Fix worked on our upgrade too.

    Plesk Centos Apache 2..2.3
    PHP 5.3.10, mySQL

    EE 2.3.1 > 2.4
    MSM 2.1.1 > 2.1.2
