Hi there, Im having trouble with one of my weblogs

    this is on EE1

when my weblog entry is displayed in my template, if I look at the source it converts my quotation marks to character entities

these quotation marks are the straight ones (not curly) and are typed straight into the title field (not pasted from Word etc)

any thoughts as to why this may be occuring?

    thanks in advance

    Hello mattias78,

Can you please enable debugging? With that enabled, we can see what is in the database and compare that to what is being rendered on the screen.

To turn debugging on please go to your Control Panel and navigate to Admin->System Administration-> Output and Debugging. Please set the last two settings, which are “Display Output Profiler?” and “Display Template Debugging?”, to yes.

To see the data navigate to the website and the page that is displaying the content in question.

Look through the debug for the entry and the title and see if those characters are actually in the database. If they are in the database, then we need to figure out why

Based on what you find there, we can move forward with troubleshooting.

    Cheers!

    Hi Shane,

I’ve had a look through various parts of the template debugger/SQL queries and the character codes are appearing wherever there is reference to the entry title…

    Mattias,

Could you check your database using phpmyadmin or similar tool and let me know what the database MySQL connection collation is and also if the database tables are sharing the same collation?

Also check if you have ‘Automatically Convert High ASCII Text to Entities’ turned on in your settings?

    Sean
