I am completely locked out of our control panel. It only occurred 2 days ago and we haven’t made any changes to the site.

All we can think of is that there was a problem with the hosting a few days ago which took the site offline.

I get the login page, put in my details and just get returned to the login page again.

I can reset the password, which works goes through the rest process but doesn’t let me in. There are no error messages it just returns to the login screen.

The website still works absolutely fine.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am having this exact problem. I have a post here: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/210086/

I haven’t received any help at all. I hope something gets going soon. I am dead in the water with a release due.

    alex…

I don’t know if this will help you or not, but I was able to remedy my situation by doing the following:

I removed the value setting from:  Admin—> Security and Privacy—> Cookie Settings—> Cookie Domain

    And everyone can log-in again.

    Hi alexlampe,

I’m sorry you are unable to access your Control Panel. I apologize for the extended support times.

I would like you to try adding a config value to /system/expressionengine/config/config.php
    Around line 20, add:

    $config['cookie_domain'] = "";

And let me know if you then able to access your CP.

    Thanks!

Oops!!!  I guess it would have helped to say I rolled the backup from the day before prior. That’s the only way I was able to get to those settings.

    Thanks Dan.

I just upgraded to version 2.2.4 in the hope that it would help but nothing has changed. It still won’t log me in. i checked the databases and the users still definitely exist.

One thing I have noticed is that our host has upgraded to the latest version of Plesk. Would that have any effect??

    Hello alexlampe,

I am sorry to hear you are still running into this lockout issue.

You were able to upgrade and the entire process completed successfully?

Were you able to add the change that Dan suggested above?

Have you contacted your hosting provider about the issues? I am not sure about how Plesk would interact with ExpressionEngine.

What changes did the hosting provider make that knocked your site offline? Was it OS updates, if so did PHP or MySQL versions change significantly? Brian Mallett mentions above that he rolled his site back and that allowed him access to his install. If something changed with the DB then this would make a lot of sense.

I am pretty sure you will need to call your hosting provider and have them help you with this. A good tech will be tailing Apache and MySQL logs while you try and login and they should see something that gives them a clue.

Please let me know how this goes. I am hoping that your provider can get you sorted. If not, I will do what I can.

    Cheers,

    I got this fixed.

It turns out that the clock on the server was two hours behind. I got the hosting company to correct this an now it works. You can close this issue now.

    Thanks for the support.
