    Hi all,

I was wondering if I could change the URL Title after making a post? When one creates a blog post in the Title field, EE automatically creates a URL Title of the same name with underscored for spaces. I have two questions:

    1. Is there a limit to the length of the URL Title, to the point where it gets truncated?
    2. Can I change the URL Title after it has been posted?

The reason for these questions is that I put in a Title, let’s say “Mary Had A Little Lamb” and the URL Title got truncated to “mary_had_a_little_”, now when I try to use permalink to grab the URL from my blog post, to put in facebook so visitors can click on the link and be taken to my post, facebook does not recognize the last underscore so visitors are being sent to the default home page of my blog rather than to the direct post.

So I would like to change the URL Title by removing the last underscore, so I can use it in facebook.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Blank out the URL title and re-save the entry.  EE will re-create it based on what the Title currently is.

OK, what if we don’t want to change the title, would EE truncate it again and leave the hanging underscore? Can I not blank out url title and put in my own, and re-save?

    Try it? 😉

Yes - if you haven’t changed the title you will get the same generated url title, but you can overwrite that.
