    Hello,

We were working on a site that was moved to a new URL by our hosting provider.  Consequently none of the URLs were updated in the DB.

I was able to log into the CP and update the URLs under General Config to get the CP displaying correctly.  When I tried to install a plugin I started getting some php errors, so I disabled and then deleted the plugin.

After doing so, the CP started throwing the following errors…

    A PHP Error was encountered

    Severity: Notice

    Message: Undefined property: EE::$session

    Filename: libraries/Functions.php

    Line Number: 76
    A PHP Error was encountered

    Severity: Warning

Message: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /mnt/target05/341597/610458/www.coppercoloradocondos.com/web/content/ccc-control/codeigniter/system/core/Exceptions.php:170)

    Filename: libraries/Functions.php

and we are unable to access the CP.

I believe the site is running EE Version 2.3.0.  I’m tempted to upgrade to EE 2.3.1, but am hesitant to do so without a properly functioning site.

Would appreciate some help getting these issues sorted.

    Thanks.

    Hi ErniePile,

I’m sorry the server move has caused some disruptions for you. I’ll do everything I can to get you on the right track.

Hold off on updating until we can get your site back and running properly. As a first step, I would like you to start with Step 6 in the User Guide on Moving ExpressionEngine to Another Server. Also, contact your host and verify the path to your public web folder. You will need that once we get you back in the Control Panel.

    Cheers!

    File permissions were set correctly.

I got things back to normal by deleting the plugin directory form the server and then deleting the row related to the plugin from the database.

Things seem to be okay (have yet to upgrade) - is there anything else I should look into/ be concerned about?

    Thanks.

    ErniePile,

When you say plugin what add-on were you installing when this error happened. Plugins do not create database entries, though Modules and Extensions do.

I’m glad it’s working for you but please report back with exactly what you did and with what add-on.

Sorry, bouncing back and forth b/w EE and WP.

The Extension I installed is called Current URL (http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/current-url-ci).  Tried to uninstall via the CP that’s when the site started throwing errors.  So I submitted a request here, but couldn’t sit around, so I deleted the extension files from the server and went into the DB via phpMyAdmin and removed the entry related to that extension.

Now that the site is back up I can also tell you…
    EEv2.2.2 - Build: date 20110801

    Thanks.

    ErniePile,

I understand about switching back and forth between systems - it gets easy to be confused. Thanks for reporting back with the add-on. I would recommend contacting the add-on developer and letting them know that it didn’t uninstall properly for you.

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Hi Sean,

I just want to be sure that I’ve done everything necessary to remove the problem extension.  Are there any other steps I should take?

    Thanks.

    ErniePile,

Removing the tables using phpMYAdmin should do the trick provided you got all of the tables that were created by the extension. And after that I would also definitely remove the files from the site.

I would also still recommend contacting the developer so that they know about this uninstall issue and can get it fixed for future users.
