Does System Offline Auto-Generate 503 Status?

I noticed there’s an extension for EE1 that generates a 503 status when the system is offline. A client wants to participate in Blackout Day and wants to generate a 503 with her system offline.

I’m curious—does that automatically happen when you take the site offline now in EE2? Or is this something we’ll need to manually add in htaccess or something?

Hi Joelle,

Thank you for posting to the forums. Sorry this is a day late as the SOPASTRIKE was yesterday.

When you take the site offline, a 503 “Service Temporarily Unavailable” is sent unless you are logged in as the Super Admin.
