I’m attempting to install EE 2.3 on our server. It’s a clean install. Have uploaded all the files, but when get to this step:

Point your browser to the URL of the admin.php file you uploaded. For example: <a href="http://example.com/admin.php">http://example.com/admin.php</a>

    The URL is blank.

When I go to the main domain, the following error comes up, don’t know if it’s germane:

Your config file does not appear to be formatted correctly.

We are attempting to install EE on subdomain, i.e. php.MYSITE.com, don’t know if that’s a factor.

We have not changed the name of the system folder.

    Any ideas?

Also, I’ve verified that the permissions are correct, per the instructions.

    Hi BrandB,

I’m sorry you are having trouble with the installer. Can you verify that /system/expressionengine/installer exits and that the files there are not zero bytes? What do you see if you try:

    <a href="http://domain.tld/system/index.php">http://domain.tld/system/index.php</a>

    Thanks!

    HI Dan,

I checked to see if “/system/expressionengine/installer” exists and it does not. The installer folder was in ‘/system/installer”. I’m not sure if that’s where it’s suppose or there was just a typo on your part.

What do you see if you try: http://domain.tld/system/index.php

The url is http://tld.domain/system/index.php and when I go there I get this notice:

Your config file does not appear to be formatted correctly.

    Any ideas?

Also, it should be noted that other scripts work fine on the subdomain, I can log in to them, work with the backend etc, etc. I mention this only as possible side confirmation that the server is working ok.

Hey, just discovered some hosting issues with our provider (the move to the php 5 cluster has some some issues, we’re still on PHP 4). Once that’s resolved, I’d try installing again and if there are still issues, I’ll be contacting ya’ll again. This thread can be marked as resolved though.
