I need to limit certain users to only create and edit certain content.

I will have 100-200 users that can only edit their own bios (1 given user can edit 1 given bio). The Bio entry can be created by the Admin when they add the user if necessary.

Anyone in the same user group can also create a new entry in a different channel, and then edit the entry they created. No one else in the group can edit anyone else’s entry. They can however leave comments on the entries created by others.

Can EE handle this? If so, what is the best way to set it up? I have not have used SafeCracker. Seems like a good option as it would keep these users out of the Control Panel.

    Hi thoms005,

ExpressionEngine can certainly handle this. Member Groups can be assigned privileges under the “Channel Posting Privileges” heading when you edit that member group. You can then use SafeCracker to allow them to post to a particular channel for new entries, and SafeCracker can be retracted to allow only the author of an entry to edit it.

You can also look into using Zoo’s Visitor, which handles a good bit of what you are looking for.
