    Hi EE team-

Having an issue with updated templates not rendering on the front-end of the website.

Example: I open a template, change a line of code, and click update. The updated code displays with the EE window, but when i view the rendered webpage, the old code still appears.

I have all of the caching set to “No” on all of my templates. I’ve loaded the page on multiple browsers on multiple machines, and the old template is loading in all places.

I recently transferred the whole website and database from my shared testing server to the new virtual private server (with the same webhosting company), so I’m wondering if there is a setting somewhere in the new server that is interfering with the process. I’ve had no problem updating any of the channel content, but for some reason the updated templates aren’t loading. Any idea what could be causing this?

    Appreciate the help!

What version of EE are you running?

Here’s a few things to try:

    1. Clear out the cache anyway - Tools>Data
    2. Make sure the cache folder is writable
    2. Create a new blank template and insert some text, eg “Hello world” - now try calling that template in your browser, do you see it?

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried all 3 of those steps… no luck with any of them.

Would installing the upgrade help?  I’m currently running v2.2.2

Could the template be saved as a file and EE is pulling from that instead?

I’ve noticed I’ve been having issues saving over my old templates since the migration. Been getting the “unable to save template as text file issue” despite the permissions and pathway being setup properly. Let me delete the old template file and see what happens.

Ok… deleting the old template did the trick. But even with that old file deleted, I still get the “unable to save template” message when I re-saved the template. I have permissions for the entire directory set to 777, and I’ve tried a couple different pathways to reach the directory with no luck.

I’ve read on one thread something about PHP Safe Mode on the server causing an issue with this. Could that be the case here?

    Hi Jake,

You could give the add-on HealthCheck a run to see if everything on your server is ok for EE

Do you perhaps have the template base path hard-coded in the config.php file?
This would overwrite the control panel setting

It would be recommended regardless of your current issue to upgrade to latest version. Be sure to back up everything first
