    Hey guys,

    I am a developer that is setting up a website for a designer who has a 3rd party client. I’ve created a designer member group for her, so that she should be able to see the progress of the site without the client being able to see the progress, and the design of the site.

    I have her membership settings on view site while offline set to yes. It wasn’t working at first, then her computer forced her to update Firefox, and it started working. About 3 hours later, it randomly stopped working again. I gave her the admin “superuser” login information, and it still shows her the “System Offline” message while I can see the site.

    Is there a way to fix this? This is a crucial thing I need to get handled so that she can add content to the designs.

    Thanks!
    AJ

    Hi 82degrees welcome to the forums

    What version of EE are you using?

    At first sight it looks like a local issue, can you check she has no software, such as a firewall, blocking cookies. It’s also worth clearing out browser cache and a cookies, closing browser and restarting so you start afresh.

    If you can login with her account and don’t get the problem that is a sign it’s local to her machine.

    We are using the newest version of EE, as we just purchased it.

    The issue isn’t a local issue for her, because as of 5pm EST it stopped working on my machine as well. I tried clearing cookies, cache, and restarting the browser as well. I’ve even tried multiple different browsers include Firefox 9, Chrome, Safari and Opera.

    I don’t know what is going on with this. At first, I thought it was the server certificate, but if it is no longer working on my machine, I’m not sure that that is what the problem would be.

    I have had the same issue before. But went away when i added session type to cookies only.

    $config['admin_session_type'] = "c";
    $config['user_session_type'] = "c";

    Add this to the config file? Because I did, and it didn’t fix the issue.

    Another thing I forgot to mention earlier is that when I am logged in as Admin, if I click the name of the website in the top right I get sent to the “System Offline” page. If I click the Channels button however, I am redirected to the index of the site. I cannot fully navigate thru the site from there, and I can’t seem to figure out why its doing this.

    Thanks!
