    I don’t think very many EE forums have reached this number…....

    I think we beat a lot of the supposed EE “top 20” listed at Hop - some by quite a wide margin…..but who’s counting?

    How did you manage to prevent spam posts/members in the forum ?

    How did you manage to prevent spam posts/members in the forum ?

    Various ways - we have 4 moderators besides myself….but my usual tactic these days is to carefully look at each registration before I approve the pending members. This takes well less than 5 minutes per day for 20-30 new sign ups.

    I block most countries on the other side of the world…...since they are usually not interested in the topic.

    Oh, now I also have a captcha question which asks what is the first name of the crooner Sinatra….not something your average Phillipine spammer knows.

    So a combined approach works pretty well.

    Thanks Craig for sharing your ideas. We always had spammer trouble in EE forums. Fake registrations, posts, PM’s, signatures. Good to know that you had taken effective steps to keep them out. Your tips will be handy next time we build a forum for our clients.
