I am very new to the Whole PHP / MySql stuff and have been crash learning everything.

When I originally set up my MySql database it was set to disallow remote access.

I would like this feature now.

    My question:

Is it possible to move my EE to a new database?

I have created a second DB on my server that allows remote access. I have uploaded a previously downladed backup to the opriginal DB on the new one.

Would changing the database.php file work?

will take all the help I can get. Thanks

    Hi Jerseyjones,

    You need to make sure:

    A) The db backup is good and restores to the new location properly.
    B) If you are only moving the db to a different server and not your EE website you need to make sure the server running your EE website is able to connect to the db server. And yes, modifying the database.php file is where you would apply the db changes.

    Cheers,

    Mike
