I am using EE ver 2.3.1 Build 20111017

I keep getting “unable to save template as text file” error when I try to update my template via the CMS. However, I can easily update the template code in my text file on my desktop editor.

My path to templates looks like this:

    /var/www/html/eetest/public/tpl/

Save template as Files is set to yes.

Folder permission is ser to 777

What else can I do now? Please help

    Hi dgink,

Check your “Basepath to Template File Directory” in the CP which is located in “Design > Templates > Global Preferences” and make sure you have it set to “/var/www/html/eetest/public/tpl/”.

    Hi Amit,

Can you let us know the outcome of Mike’s suggestion please?

    Hi all,

I’m having a similar issue.  Also using build 20111017.  When I submit the form to Update Global Template Preferences I am taken directly to the CP homepage with none of the new settings saved.

    Look forward to your insight.

Quick update.  I think this has to do with the router in my office building.  It doles out IPs like they’re going out of style and reeks havoc on some of the CP functions.  At any rate, things are working intermittently and it’s definitely not an EE problem.  Sorry to bother.

    Will,

Thanks for the followup. If there is anything else we can do, just let us know.

    Thanks!
