I’ve recently gotten hit by a wave of comment spam. I’m in the middle of a big redesign and will use better prevention in the future, and don’t want to take the time to fool with my existing templates. Is there a way to quickly close multiple entries, say those before a particular date (all the spam is on older entries), to comments?

You could either disallow comments or set them expired.  Check in ‘Admin- Channel Admin- Channels’ and ‘Edit Prefs’.  You’ll see under comment prefs:

    - Allow comments in this channel?
    - Comment Expiration
The number of days after an entry is posted during which to allow comments. Enter 0 (zero) for no expiration.

For both of those you have a checkbox to make it update all existing entries.  So if you check it, it’s like you set that setting in the entry post.  If you don’t check it- just means it defaults to that in the future.  Nice thing is, once you have time, you can easily go in and update them all to turn them on or have no expiration date.

    That do the trick?

    😉  Glad you’re squared away!
