    Hi,

I like to purchase EE with multiple site manager for our project but I have some questions.
    We Need:
    - Membership subscription (free and paid)
    - Automatically send email 7 days before ending subscription date
    - Payment (paypal)

    Membership level:
    1) Free
    2) Paid

    Member can:
    1) Add Address, tel, email
upgrade (from free membership to paid membership)
    2) Add Address, tel, email, URL, description, upload logo, upload 10 pictures (on click show large picture popup)
view payments and invoices, view membership info (eg. start/end date, level)

Is this possible with EE only or do I need some modules (and Which modules are the best to use)?

Hi DymDym and welcome to the forums 😊

We have a first party addon which comes with EE Commercial called Simple Commerce. This allows you to set up entries as subscriptions and then create recurring payments via paypal.

If yu wish something with a bit more weight then have a look at Membrr

Your Free and Paid features could possibly be done with Zoo Visitor which brings your Member Profile into an EE entry which allows you to create a lot more member based permissions rather than native members fields

    Hopefully that helps

    Hi John,

    Thanks for answering.
Because I am not familiar with EE (yet) I have to decide what modules/plugins I need to build the website. Zoo Visitor is good to use I think.  I will look into Membrr to see if it fit my needs, I am not sure about the payment gateway.

Also important is that visitors can search and find the members profile on our site. Search by name, expertise, city, category etc. and visitors can email the member by mailform. Do I need to have an extra module for the search and mail?

    Thanks

Are the guides up-to-date? I see some contribution notes here and there that some explanations are wrong or out dated. I am not really a developer so I need good documentation and hopefully there will be samples available to look into (and learn).

    DymDym,

If you want extensive search ability for your member profiles, then Visitor is a good way to go. It will bring member management into standard ExpressionEngine channels and then you can use the built-in search module. Email is built in function as well, so you should be good on that front.

The documentation has been updated with the notes you mention along the way. We keep the notes there for posterity and we are constantly working to improve our User Guide 😊

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,

I also see an addon “User” (solspace). Can you tell me which one is better to use: Visitor or User?

    Regards

I am not familiar yet with EE, so I cannot say which one is the best to use. Thats’s why I asked. And to purchase both only to see which one is the best means that one of them will not be used.
I need some other addons too (super search).

If I can work with EE (and I hope I can) then I need more EE licenses for a new project from one of my clients I just got today. But this depends of whether I can use EE or not.

Hi, DymDym. If you’re going to be going with Solspace’s User add-on, you might want to consider using User (by the same company) . I know User has a money back guarantee.

I’m not sure if Zoo Visitor does.

    Hi Sue,

The money back gaurantee is nice but not the issue. If someone can tell me the difference between Vistor (Zoo) and User (Solspace) it will help (or maybe I have to use both).

Maybe because EE is new for me, I am thinking too complicated.
I made a website before and used PyroCMS (which I like) but maybe EE will make my life a lot easier to use? I am reading a lot and almost confinced that this is the right CMS to use. I hope when I buy it and have problems or questions that someone will help.

    Hi DymDym,

I’ve had experience with both User and Visitor, so I can speak to the differences and similarities. They both allow you to break Member registration out of the specialty templates an into regular ExpressionEngine templates, which adds a ton of flexibility. Where they differ is that User continues to use *just* ExpressionEngine’s Member fields and default database. Visitor does all that and allows your Member registrations to be stored as channel entries in a Zoo Visitor Channel. Having your members stored in a standard EE channel adds *even more* flexibility to the process.

As to your potential purchase of ExpressionEngine. We will be here to help you along the way! Support is included with your purchase, as well as a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee 😊’

Is there anything else we can assist you with?

Thanks for your interest in ExpressionEngine!

    Hi Dan,

    Thanks for your explaination.
Just for me to understand it right, Visitor gives me more flexibility?
So if I want to use multi site manager for two websites which has its own members (with their portfolio page)it is better to use Visitor because I can seperate the channel entries (eg. visitor-channel-membersite-1 and visitor-channel-membersite-2)?

    Hi DymDym,

It is my opinion, and it is simply that, that Visitor would allow you more flexibility and should allow your to do what you describe with MSM. However, you should contact EE Zoo for exact details.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I just purchased a commercial license (without multi site manager) so I can see how it works. Can I add Multi site manager later without any problems?

    Thanks for all the advice

Sure! You can add MSM at any point. Since you’ve made a buying decision, I’m going to go ahead and close this particular thread.

Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.
