MVC and the joys of MVC

I haven’t used any other php frameworks, but coming from a C++ background, and using Nokia’s MVC QT Lybrary, I’m relieved to be able to use a MVC framework for php.

Anyway, does EllisLab use the default CodeIgniter Framework for ExpressionEngine, or do they modify the whole thing and say they use it just for a PR stunt?
