Couldn’t find this issue in the Forums.

Upgrading to 2.3.1 from 2.2, I get this error when running the update wizard:

    An Error Was Encountered
Unable to load the requested class: sql_helper

I don’t even know where to start troubleshooting.  Thanks so much for any advice!

    Hi Will,

When you attempted the upgrade did you follow the instructions in our documentation completely?

I must admit that I’ve not seen this problem come up before so just want to see exactly how you are updating your site first.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Good to hear from you, Mark.  I’ve gotten so used to doing these updates that I’ll admit I didn’t got over the doc this time.  On reviewing it now, I realize that I forgot to clear the caches before starting the upgrade process, everything else, though, was “by the book.”. Do you think that could be what was contributing?  I restored the database backup and the 2.2.2 implementation, but I will try the upgrade again on Monday with cache cleared and see if that doesn’t do the trick.

    Cheers,

    Will

    Hi Will,

No problems. Just let us know how you get on.

Make sure to revert your system (database and files) back to the stage they were at before you attempted the update or you will have all sorts of errors and problems.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Will Dieterle,

Have you had a chance to run through the update again? If not, when you get the chance, make sure you grab a fresh download of ExpressionEngine from your download account. That way we can rule out any FTP anomalies that may have contributed to the first round of errors.

    Cheers,

Thanks, Dan.  I haven’t tried again, but I’m pretty sure it was an error on my end, not with ExpressionEngine.  You can close the thread if you like, I’ll repost if I somehow run into the same thing again.

    Best,

    Will
