    Hi everyone,
I am developing a site for a client and am trying to install EE… the client has bought a EE 2 Multiple Site Manager Commercial License however the only file that is available for download from the control panel is a 28kb zip file called EE_MSM_2.1.1. Is this the installer? It seems to be missing all the files that are referred to in the installation document e.g.

Set the following files to 666:
          system/expressionengine/config/config.php
          system/expressionengine/config/database.php
Set the following folders to 777:
          /system/expressionengine/cache/
          /images/avatars/uploads/
          /images/captchas/
          /images/member_photos/
          /images/pm_attachments/
          /images/signature_attachments/
          /images/uploads/

Am I missing something glaringly obvious! Please help, thank you!

    Hi Aussiemite and welcome.
EE is little different and MSM is a module that is optional. With this in mind, you will need to:
    1. first install EE itself then
    2. install MSM module and start setting up additional sites/domains.

Post back if you get stuck.

Hi Lebisol and thanks for your reply. It is the first part I’m stuck on - installing EE! Where are the installer files? On the installation page there is no link to any installer or software of any kind…

    Hi Aussiemite,

It would appear to me that your client has bought the MSM module but not the actual EE2 software. I suspect your client got a little confused and thought that the Multiple Site Manager was a full installation of EE2.

    It is not.

Your client will need to purchase a full version of EE2, the MSM is a module (addon) that sits on top of EE2 to allow more than one site to be managed from a single EE installation.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news, but your client will need to purchase the full EE2 package first.

    Hi Aussiemite,

Flatulent Badger is correct in that you seem to only have purchased the MSM module here. Looking at your account I can see that to be true.

You would need to go back and also purchase ExpressionEngine too and then follow the instructions on this page in our documentation.

    Does that help at all?

    Thanks,

    Mark
