I’m using EE 1.x and I’ve noted that when member accounts are deleted from within ExpressionEngine the corresponding forum topics and forum subscriptions that belong to that member are NOT deleted.

This has a nasty side effect in that spammy posts made by bogus members still appear in the ‘Latest Post Info’ column on the top level forum pages and are also spat out as valid topics by the “{exp:forum:topic_titles}” tag. This render the deletion of bogus member accounts with spammy forum posts completely useless as the offending content still appears in numerous places.

The only way to fix this at present is to manually delete the offending topics and subscription from the ‘exp_forums_topics’ and ‘exp_forum_subscriptions’ tables.

Any chance of a patch for this and a fix in the next release? I suspect this might also be an issue in EE2?

Deleting members from EE1 shouldn’t leave their forum topics in the forums. By default, when a user is deleted from EE, their posts are also removed. Do you have any add-ons installed that are related to the forums or member management?
