Not sure why, but my the template manager stopped working.

I can access my templates via the Design link, but the some templates won’t update.

Just updated to Version 2.3, but this was happening in 2.2.  I tried uninstalling some add ons based on the post below, but nothing seems to work.

This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hey ivisionteam,

Sorry you’re running into this. Can you list all the add-ons you are using on this site?

When you say “the template manager stopped working”, do you mean no templates display in the table, similar to the thread you referenced?

Just to make sure we’re on the same page here, you’re saying, you have two issues, that are related:

    1) You are having trouble viewing your templates and template groups from the Template Manager Page
    2) When editing templates, some templates won’t save the changes.

    Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Kyle,

Yes, that is correct. However, I found the culprit for my issue with no templates displaying in the table.  It was the SearchEE Plugin.  I uninstalled that and now I’m able to view the templates items in the template group on the right.

As far as the template updating issue.  Once I uninstalled that SearchEE plugin, the latest revision of the template automatically updated and changes were shown in the browser.  However, when I made a couple minor changes to see if it was still updating, it would not show the latest updates in the browser.

To confirm with you. Everything is good now that you have found the culprit?

The only thing that is good is the template groups are showing up on the templates page but the templates nor channels are updating when changes are made.  Would there be communication problem with the database?

    Hi ivisionteam,

Can you list all the add-ons you have running on your site.

And, when you go to update a template, do you get a “check” at the top of the page indicating the page updated successfully?

Are the templates updating successfully, and just not showing up on the front end? Or are they not updating from the control panel view as well?

After updating and template, does clearing your cache help at all?

    Thanks.

    I’m running the following Addons

    Modules -  Freeform & Wygwam
Accessories - CP Analytics, Learning EE, CP Logo, Expression Engine Info

Yes, there is a check letting me know the template updated successfully.

Templates are updating in the control panel, just not on the front end

    Clearing the cache didn’t help

    Hi ivisionteam,

If you make a simple text only change to your template, for example a sentence near the top that says “This is a test”, are you able to see that change on the front end of your site?

What caches are you clearing? Browser cache, ExpressionEngine cache, all of the above? What are your template caching preferences for this template?

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,
I have made a text only change and have not seen the change on the front end.  I’ve also cleared browser cache and EE cache.  The template caching preferences for this template is set No for enable chaching.

    Hi ivisionteam,

This is certainly strange. Is this on a server to which we could get access? I think it’ll be quicker if we’re able to get a first-hand look at this. Be on the lookout for an email from me.

I’ve had this issue before. I had to manually delete the cache files on the FTP, checked permissions on my templates directory (templates were saving as files), and double checked the paths.

I forget which thing fixed it, but it was one of those!

    Hi ivisionteam,

I checked into the problem you’re having, and I was able to see it for myself. While your templates do appear to be saving and updating correctly (and thus are being saved to the database properly), the front-end doesn’t update.

It looks like DB caching was the culprit. I disabled DB caching by adding this to your config.php file:

    $config['enable_db_caching'] = 'n';

Once I did that, your pages now load with any template changes included! Can you confirm this fixed things for you?
