Control Panel Sidebar Search Finds Nothing

Whenever I use the “Search” box in the right-hand sidebar on the control panel, I get “No Results Found.” If I click on “Rebuild Index,” I get a new page that tells me “Building Search Index. Please do not refresh.” and, within no more than a second, it finishes. But search still does not work. Yet if I run a search at the top of the “Edit Channel Entries,” in the “Keywords” field, it works very nicely.

Perhaps I’ve neglected to enable something?

I’ve tried to search for information about this, but—as you can imagine—searching for “search” has been an unhelpful experience. 😊

    Hi, Waldo,

That search will look for ExpressionEngine CP pages, for instance, if you type “member” and search, it should find the member admin pages.

The search at the top of the edit pages is searching your website content.

So they will find different things as they are for different purposes.

    Does that help?

    Hi, Waldo.

Can you give me an example of what you’re attempting to search for?

Wow, I had no idea that’s what it searches. My users have been trying to use it to search the site. And rightly so! I guess I’ll try to figure out how to disable it or, failing that, just start reminding people (and myself) that it search doesn’t search what you’d think it’d search.

Thanks for your help—I never would have figured that out!

    No worries, Waldo!

This Zoo Flexible Admin may be able to help in this case?
