What is the math behind posts per day and topics per day in the discussion forum?  Or more specifically, what is the date that is being used for the calculations?

I have a forum that is showing 2.57 posts per day.  There are 126 posts, and the first post was made 19 days ago which should equal 6.6 posts per day.

Can someone shed some light on what’s going on?

I’m not too sure how that all works as I just looked at a test install of the Forums that I have running and the numbers do look a little weird to me too. I only have 1 topic in the entire forum but get 0.04 topics per day.

I’m thinking it might be dividing the number by how many days the forum has been running although I’m sure I haven’t had this installation running for all that long.

Let me ask internally on this one and I’ll get back to you with whatever information I find out on this one.

Thanks Mark.  I’m guessing you’re right, that it’s using the date the forum or system started running for the basis of that calculation.

Yes, please do ask.  I’d like to be able to give a firm answer to my client.  I have a follow up question as well.  If it is using one of those dates, and isn’t a bug, is there any way to correct it?
