I am attempting to do an update from 1.7 to 2.2
The instruction keep refering to the system directory. I do not have one. It says it may have been renamed. I have a directory called coredocs would that be it.

If your coredocs folder contains a config.php, config_bak.php and a number of folders then yes, this is the system folder.
