Entry Status Set To Closed As SuperAdmin

    Hi,

I recently updated to EE v2.2.2 - build date 20110801 and in doing so have run into a few issues here and there - most of which have been caused by third party modules and which have now been updated and appear to work fine.

One issue that still persists is that fact that if, as a SuperAdmin, I try to publish to or edit ‘certain’ channels entries (not all) - the entry’s status is automatically set to closed and there are no other options in the drop down box. If I edit an entry which was published before the update, and which is currently open, upon saving changes the status defaults to closed and the only way I can make these closed entries ‘open’ is by selecting them in the ‘Edit Channel Entries’ page and clicking ‘Edit Selected’, whereupon I can then change their status to ‘open’. It is very odd and rather frustrating as a lot of live content has been disappearing offline due to edits being made.

I have 12 channel entries and this effects entries in about 4 of these channels.

Has anyone seen anything like this before and can anyone make any suggestions?

    Help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Chris

This can get a bit confusing, I find. What happens if you go to Admin > Channels, click on Edit Preferences for a channel, and under Administrative Preferences set Default Status to Open? (I figure these things out, but later forget what I did, so I can’t remember if that’s how I fixed it last time it happened to me.)

    Hi Ralph,

Thanks for your reply. I have already checked this, and have just repeated it in case. Default status in Admin > Channels > Edit Preferences is set to ‘open’ from the the options ‘open’/‘closed’. In the edit/publish page however it still only gives the option of ‘Closed’. See attached screen grab.

    Any other ideas?

Hm, another thing I’ve done before is go to Admin > Channel Administration > Statuses, then click on Statuses and add a new status (such as ‘Normal’) and save that. This seems to make the Open status (and Normal) available on the publish page. (I admit that it’s just stabbing in the dark for me. I probably should leave this to experts to answer, but meh ...)

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately that hasn’t helped either. Anyone else?

OK, my last suggestion, and then I’ll get out of your hair. If you go to Admin > Channel Administration, click on Edit Group Assignments for a channel, and to the right of Status Groups, choose Statuses instead of None. See if that helps. That’s the last of the options I’ve tried, so if that doesn’t help, then it’s something other than what I’ve experienced in the past.

OK that does actually help and allows me to select a different status so thanks for that. However, it still seems somewhat suspicious that I’ve never had to do that before and all has been working fine before the update. I still think there is an underlying issue/bug that someone should look into.

    Hi The ISDB,

I’m glad to see that ralph.m was able to get you on the right path. I’m sorry this update resulted in unexpected behavior for you. I’ll report it to the bug tracker. Is there anything else we can assist you with?

    Cheers,
