I was having a odd issue with an ExpressionEngine 2 install where the custom image fields on a channel lost the option to “Add a file”, suddenly.

I figured I would update the install to the latest and greatest version of EE 2 before I came here for help, but in doing so, I’ve run into a new problem.

I followed the instructions, but when I try to hit /admin.php I get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /nfs/c05/h02/mnt/74482/domains/glowlist.com/html/system/installer/core/Installer_Config.php on line 45

    Any ideas?

Okay, scratch the first question. I just had to upgrade the version of PHP the server was running. However, some new oddities have arisen.

1.) I just a message that core_lang.php was missing (this is after I copied my old language folder over the upgrade version, as per the update docs). To remedy. I just undid this and left the new language folder in place.

2.) When I log in I get a message that

“One or more core files have been altered:
    /nfs/c05/h03/mnt/74482/domains/glowlist.com/html/index.php
    /nfs/c05/h02/mnt/74482/domains/glowlist.com/html/index.php”

3.) When I try to publish on a channel I see two distinct errors at the top:

    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Warning
Message: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()
    Filename: models/layout_model.php
    Line Number: 388

    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Warning
Message: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /nfs/c05/h02/mnt/74482/domains/glowlist.com/html/system/codeigniter/system/core/Exceptions.php:170)
    Filename: core/Common.php
    Line Number: 405

    Any ideas?

    Hi rorourke,

1.) I just a message that core_lang.php was missing (this is after I copied my old language folder over the upgrade version, as per the update docs). To remedy. I just undid this and left the new language folder in place.

You only do this if you are using a language pack or previously modified the English language files. So leaving new ones in place is a good call.

2.) When I log in I get a message that

One or more core files have been altered:
    /nfs/c05/h03/mnt/74482/domains/glowlist.com/html/index.php

That is fine and just a security measure. It appears once. Although make sure you have replaced the admin.php and index.php in your root with new updated files

3.) When I try to publish on a channel I see two distinct errors at the top:

Do you have any publish layouts saved?

Yes, I have specific publish layouts. They appear to be rendering correctly, under these errors. Is there a fix?

    Hi rorourke,

Could you let us know what the error messages are that you’re getting here please?

    Thanks,

    Mark
