I might as well start with a very "newbie" question. Expression Engine feature question.

Thank-you in advance for any answers and your patience for a beginner question.

I am interested in creating a new website.  The following features are ones I am seeking:

    1) I want to concentrate on content, not coding.  Ease of use is a must.
    2) Currently I use RapidWeaver to create sites and wouldn’t mind sticking with it. So I would integrate EE with my existing RW sites.
    3) I would like a self-registering membership forum where visitors can register and comment (like we are doing here!)
    4) I would like to create individual pages for users that they can edit, upload photos to, and publish with very little knowledge while maintaining security (they can only edit their own pages, but everyone can see their pages).  I want to control the layout, look and feel of the pages, but let users change images and text only.

My question is simple:  Can Expression Engine accomplish the above?

I’m not looking for the HOW, but just a yes/no to the capability of accomplishing the above.  I understand that if the answer is yes, then there is a learning-curve I will have to invest in to achieve my goals - which is okay by me.  My concern is just getting the “right tool for the job”.

Also, I’m not adverse to buying plug-ins and such.

Thank-you in advance for any advice and information you can provide.  There are a surprisingly vast and complex number of tools out there for those of us at the beginning of this journey!

    Hi bergdoll

    1) I want to concentrate on content, not coding.  Ease of use is a must.
You will need to set up various templates which does need coding work (HTML/CSS + EE template tags for where your content goes), but when that’s done adding/editing content is basically filling in form fields on a publish page.

    2) Currently I use RapidWeaver to create sites and wouldn’t mind sticking with it. So I would integrate EE with my existing RW sites.
I’m not familiar with Rapidweaver but you can save EE templates as files and edit them in any decent code editor.

    3) I would like a self-registering membership forum where visitors can register and comment (like we are doing here!)
This very forum runs on the EE Discussion forum module addon, so yep!

    4) I would like to create individual pages for users that they can edit, upload photos to, and publish with very little knowledge while maintaining security (they can only edit their own pages, but everyone can see their pages).  I want to control the layout, look and feel of the pages, but let users change images and text only.
Yes that’s more than possible, EE comes with the Safecracker module which allows front end adding/editing.

    does that help?

Yes!  Yes it does!  Thank you.  I’m reviewing a couple of tools and this puts EE to the top of the list.
