I am suddenly experiencing errors when logging into the admin CP of my EE websites. Check out the two screenshots below for an example. One is from an EE 1.6.8 site and the other is from an EE 2.2.2 site. They are hosted by different providers.

Both sites were fine last week and no files or content were updated/changed since. Any ideas?

    Thanks for any info,
    Glen

    Hi Glen,

These errors are due to the new ExpressionEngine news feed. To fix the errors in 2.2.2 navigate to your system > expressionengine > cache > magpie_cache folder and delete whatever is in there.

This should then fix the errors in that site.

For your 1.6.4 (I believe it’s 1.6.4 and not 1.6.8 as your screenshot says that?) hopefully by going to your system > cache > magpie_cache and clearing that one out should fix the error there too.

Let us know if that works for you.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Thanks Mark—That did it!

I’m not sure if this is related, but I can’t seem to access my 1.6.4 templates (although I can post and edit to weblogs just fine.) Here is the error that I’m receiving as of this week:
    ——
    MySQL ERROR:

    Error Number: 1054

Description: Unknown column ‘last_author_id’ in ‘field list’

    Query: SELECT group_id, template_name, save_template_file, template_data, template_notes, template_type, edit_date, last_author_id FROM exp_templates WHERE template_id = ‘16’
    ——
    Any ideas on this one???

p.s. What a pain this is! Looks like I’m being pressed to upgrade this old site to 2.2/2.3.

    Hi Glen,

It looks as though you are missing a column in one of the database tables there. Did you have any problems with any previous updates to the site at all? I only ask that due to two things :

    1 - The error above &
2 - You said above 1.6.8 but the image showed 1.6.4 in the Control Panel

So I’m wondering did you at some point try to update to 1.6.8 but it didn’t go through and you got stuck at 1.6.4 possibly?

    Thanks,

    Mark
