    We are running EE 2.1.3

We are experiencing a problem with multiple duplicate templates being created. I have looked at this thread:
    http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/160654

I note that the “known bug” was fixed in an earlier version of EE. We have temporarily disabled the create_template() function in EE to prevent unwanted templates from being created.

Can you suggest what we should do now? Turn off SQL caching? Would clearing the cache help also? Would allocating more memory to PHP help?

Right now our site is working but fragile and we have suspended all editing until this issue is resolved.

    Thanks!

    Hi truthnews,

Is it possible for you to upgrade to the latest version of 2.2.2?

There have been numerous fixes since 2.1.3 and you may find that updating to the latest version will get rid of the problems you’re having here.

This will at least ensure you have a fresh set of files that you will be working from.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark!

Thanks for the advice - although it’s hard to get the powers that be to agree to an upgrade because they fear that it will create new unknown instabilities.

We only recently upgraded from 1.6.8 , but did not upgrade to the latest release because our staging environment testing took so long…

I note there has been an overhaul of the File Manager in later versions, but I have not seen a specific list of the changes - can you give me any info on that?

We have been getting some complaints about the image upload procedure with EE2. Our editors like the thumbnail view, but they complain because, when you set the upload type for a field to “file” you can’t also cut and paste the image HTML from one article to another. The interface should ideally have BOTH options (thumbnail and HTML) available to editors.

Also there’s a bit of a scalability problem with the image navigator pane - and you can’t search. So it would be pretty useless if there were a large number of images.

Anyway that’s a bit off-topic I know, but I would appreciate any further information you can give.

    cheers 😊

Regarding your duplicate templates problem there are a few reasons why this could be but it really would be advisable to upgrade your site to the latest version if you can as there have been numerous fixes since the version you are running.

Regarding the File Manager a lot of it is backend code items. There is a change to the actual look and layout of the File Manager too and a few bugs were fixed also.

To tell the truth I didn’t really do a lot of work with 2.1.3 so don’t really remember it all that well however the File Manager in 2.2.2 is a lot better now than I can remember of the older version if that helps at all?

Are you definitely not able to upgrade your site to see if the problems go away by doing this?

Regarding your question above about the image upload procedure I’m not quite following what you meant there although that might be because I don’t have a version of 2.1.3 to see exactly what you meant by that as it might be that something is different in that respect in 2.2.2

Are you able to take a screenshot to explain maybe?

    Thanks,

    Mark
