I have recently noticed a strange gremlin in the EE control panel of two sites.  When logging in the script will often redirect straight back to the login - as if the session variable is not being created and thus login fails.  After a couple of tries it starts to work but then when carrying out tasks in the control panel sometimes the same happens, redirect back to login.

I have upgraded to the latest installation but it continues to happen.  Could I have been hacked?  It doesn’t seem to happen on another installation on the same server?

    Hi Mantishead,

This would certainly be frustrating, let’s see if we can shed some light on what might be happening.

You mention another installation on the same server. Are you accessing these 2 installation from the same environment? Meaning the same browser/computer/network? Are the settings in Admin-> Security and Privacy-> Security and Sessions similar between the 2 installations? Are they the same version of ExpressionEngine? I”m thinking we might be able to find some clues if there are noticeable discrepancies between the 2 installations.

    Cheers,

I suspect it may be related to this:

The only thing I have done on the MediaTemple DV4 server is to enable Cloudflare on these domains.
I am going to disable Cloudflare and see if this fixes it..

    Hi Sue,

I have updated the other post at:
    http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/199339/P18/

But basically having switched off Cloudflare 6 hours ago and tested several EE installs, everything appears to be working correctly.
My assumption at this stage was Cloudflare was responsible for these issues.

    Mantishead,

I’m glad to hear you were able to sort this out. If you need assistance in the future, don’t hesitate to ask.

    Cheers!
