    I want to do this:

http://localhost/ee/lab (This is a Page, and it lists all pages within it below:)
    http://localhost/ee/lab/open-source (A Page)
    http://localhost/ee/lab/downloads (A page)

I dont need to know the EE code to do it, I would like to know what area I look into to accomplish this—I had guessed it was a category, but I could be wrong.

Please point me somewhere in the docs I am brand new to this 😊

At first glance, what you’ve written in the URLS are template groups or templates within a template group.

e.g. in Design > Templates > Template Manager
You could have a Template Group called “lab” and specific Templates within Lab called “open-source” and “downloads”

Another way to do it would be to use the index Template within Lab to display entries e.g.
Use the Template “index” within “lab” Template Group to display entries which have the titles “open source” and “downloads”.

I think I’m jumping ahead a little. Let me know if that makes any sense at all to you and we’ll carry on…

You can do this a few ways, depending on what you want from your entries.  If “open source” is a subcategory of lab, wherein it lists multiple entries assigned to that category, there’s a way to do that - basically using the last segment to identify to the entries loop which entries to show.

If however “open source” and “downloads” are each single entries within the “lab” section, there’s a similar but different mechanism for that as well, using the last segment as an identifier of the url title of the entry you want to display (and the template having conditionals to determine whether it is on the “lab” page or the “lab / open source” page.

Can you elaborate upon your intended content a little?  Will they in fact be categories used to filter entries in the lab channel?  Or are they pages themselves?
