    For the moment, EE is too much for me to handle and I am going to move my site to Wordpress (no offence EL, great product but doesn’t suit my needs right now).

    I’d like to archive it in its current state, but keep it up so that I can slowly migrate everything over to my new site. I am trying to think of all the steps and I could use some help if you wouldn’t mind.

    I’d like to (and I don’t know how to):
    * turn off all commenting
    * turn off all new member registration

    Then I want to move my EE install to a new sub-domain/directory (haven’t figured out which). I have these instructions: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/197046/ or http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/moving.html.

    Then put my new blog (Wordpress) at the root.

    Have I missed any steps? If you could help me with the turning everything off I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Hi Erin,

    no offence EL, great product but doesn’t suit my needs right now

    None taken. I thoroughly believe that there is a right tool for the right job philosophy

    * turn off all commenting

    Head to the preferences for each of your Channels and under Comment Posting Preferences turn off Allow comments in this channel? and click the checkbook for Update all existing entries with this setting?

    * turn off all new member registration

    Goto Members -> Member Preferences and set Allow New Member Registrations? to no

    You seem to be set for documentation on moving your site

    You can also under General Configuration turn your site off so it is only visible to you as a logged in SuperAdmin

    Does that help?

    Erin,

    Weblogs then 😊

    CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management ›  Edit Weblog Preferences under Comment Posting Preferences

    CP Home ›  Admin ›  Members and Groups ›  Membership Preferences under General Configuration

    Does that do it for you?
