Problem with Member Login to CP using MSM

I run a number of sites with MSM… lets call them Primary site and Secondary site. I have a member group specially created to allow CP login to the Secondary site for posting, etc.

The problem is that at all login attempts as a member of theis group, I get “You are not authorised to perform this action” - unless I also allow CP access to the Primary site… Then it will log the User in, granting CP access to both sites. If I then disable access to the Primary site, I again cannot login at all.

I believe I have the permissions set appropriately - the member group is granted CP access on the appropriate site (Secondary site), and the CP items allowed are set. It only works though if I also allow access to the Primary site CP…

I run the EE system above webroot… could this have something to do with it?

    Hi s0uthpaw,

Can you tell us which version/build of EE2.x you’re using? See EEWiki:// HowTo Determine My EE Version

I know there has been some discussion on making this functionality work the way you’d like, but it might be a feature request right now.

    ExpressionEngine v2.2.1 - Build: date 20110630

I thought that this would be standard functionality, not special.

    Hi s0uthpaw,

The reason Sue was asking about your version is because this sounds suspiciously like a bug we encountered in 2.2.1, so she wanted to determine if you were running the latest version. It’s actually something we really need to know for each support request.

Since you’re running 2.2.1, my recommendation is to update your site to the latest version of EE. After that, post back here with an update to let us know where you’re at!

Yes, that worked. Upgrading to 2.2.2 lets users login when using MSM.

It has however, thrown up one more issue (which perhaps should be in a different thread). I am now required to place a double slash at the end of the site url or else the images cannot be found, i.e. I have to set the base site URL as:

    http://www.freyer.ie//

or else I get no images. It actually works, so I am not too concerned, but thought I’d mention it.

Thanks for your help with the above.

Hmm… well that’s not good. Yep, let me ask you to open up a new related thread on this by clicking the button below. That’ll let us keep these issues separate. Give us a good detailed explanation of the problem as well. Tell us what you expect to happen, what happens instead, and how we can reproduce the problem ourselves.

PM me when you do so, and I’ll make sure to get on that thread immediately. Don’t want me asking you to open up a new thread to cause you to get bumped to the end of the line. 😊
